Quick Update

We started our 2010 BBQ comp season on April 2nd. I plan to cut back on a few contests this year as it is just wearing me out having to wear so many hats. Our first stop was Benton, Kentucky. Which was our 25th state that we have officially competed in!!! Yahoo!!! we are half way there! We ended up taking the Grand Championship, which is an awesome way to start the year! That is all of us with the Taterness herself... She was the queen of Tater Days. Yep Tater Days... So I have now been photographed in my BBQ career with the Pork Queen and the Tater Queen. So I have that going for me...

The next weekend we made the trip down to NE Mississippi to Columbus, Mississippi. It is about 40 miles south of Tupelo, where Elvis was born. I have some pictures, but they are still on my camera. But let me just say, the Wisteria that grows down there like weeds, is just awesome! We finished in 6th overall. We had some good stuff, but was happy with our results. Also, Mississippi was officially our 26th state that we have competed!!! Here is our updated map. Scares me just looking at it...

Hope to see you all out on the road.

Old No. 7

Today is supposed to be a fun day, with it being Groundhog Day. Instead, today is the 7th anniversary of my beloved Corliss passing away. Not a day has gone by that I have not been thinking of Corliss and how much we all miss her.

I hope she is looking down and smiling at the things that we have accomplished in these short 7 years. Her babies are now becoming little ladies...

Miss you more than I can describe.

I can drive!!!!

I got clearance from my neurologist doctor today that I am cleared to drive! Man, has that been a long 3 months!!! She was also impressed with the non-shrinkage of my brain, as I guess that starts to shrink at an older age... So I have that going for me. Not sure what it means, but I don't have shrinkage! ;-)

Looks like I need to start planning my BBQ season now...

Banquet

Had a great time at the banquet this year. Was great seeing all of my friends and meeting new one's!

Huge congrats to rod and Sheri Gray for being named team of the year for KCBS. I don't want to slight my other friends, Darren and Sherry Warth who finished in 2nd place and also to a great team and one of my favorites I Smell Smoke!!! Way to represent the NEBS land. Sure is special seeing you all go up to stage for any awards. I believe that Mike was represented as well!

It looks like we will be going to the Great American BBQ in Kansas; Washington, DC for the Safeway battle. Then also Lake Placid, New York, so that should be a fun week! Then off to Shannon, Illinois for the last contest that Mike and Theresa will be putting on in Shannon. Then Kingsford, MI and lastly Mesquite, Nevada... These are all of the free entry copuns that I won in the raffle this year. I also have a few more that I plan on putting on eBay to raise some money for cancer research. So watch for them!

My favorite things from Philly to eat were roast pork from Tony Luke's, the hoagie from Salumaria at the Reading Market and also from the market Diliala's macaroni and cheese...

Competition BBQ Class/Fundraiser

I'll be having a special competition BBQ class in Westmont, IL on February 19-20th of this year. I also have Mike "Quau" Wozniak to come along and give some instruction on chicken category!

This will be a full comp class, with no secrets to be held back. The best part about the class is, a portion of the class fee will be tax deductible for the students and the rest of the money will be donated to my 501 c(3) that I started in my wife's memory. So no one will be making any money on this class, it is a full fundraiser. Thanks to Mike for donating his time for my cause!!!

Here is a link for the registration form.
