So yesterday was my birthday. To me, it's just another day. I know my girls get excited and I play along with them. But deep down, it hurts. I know it's another year that my Corliss never got to see.
The Corliss Johnson Memorial Foundation was created following the death of my wife, Corliss, who dies in 2003 after a battle with cancer. Our daughters Zoe and Lexi were only 5 and 2 years old when Corliss was taken from us.
CancerSucksChicago.com is our Championship BBQ Team our of Westmont, IL consisting of me (Scottie), Zoe, Lexi and Aunt Liz Anne Johnson. We hit the BBQ circuit in 2006 and honor Corliss by naming our team after a "Cancer Sucks" button she proudly wore to her chemo treatments.
We donate all profits back to the Corliss Johnson Memorial Foundation because competition BBQ is more than winning contests. 100% of net proceeds will be used to help fight cancer and to assist those that are fighting for their lives and their loved ones. Our small foundation is trying to make a difference in this war against cancer...
